Coldsore<\/em> (Dir. Caitlin McCarthy)<\/p><\/div>\n

In this episode we meet illustrator, animator and designer Caitlin McCarthy<\/a>. Since graduating from Camberwell<\/a>, Caitlin’s work in illustration quickly expanded to experimental moving image projects and animation, ultimately leading to her involvement with London-based production studio Strange Beast<\/a> \u2013alongside such artists as Hannah Jacobs<\/a>, Kijek\/Adamski<\/a> and previous podcast guest Anna Ginsburg<\/a>. Having created animation for clients including VOW<\/a>, Red Bull<\/a>, School of Life<\/a>, Nike<\/a> and New York Public Library<\/a>, Caitlin’s work also often deals with themes of love and intimacy, includes animated segments for The Female Orgasm<\/em><\/a>, an episode of the Vox\/Netflix production Explained<\/em> as well as the independent short films Paraphilia<\/em><\/a> and Coldsore<\/em><\/a>, the latter of which will be screening at Bristol\u2019s Encounters Festival<\/a> next month.<\/p>\n

A naive but determined internet dweller goes to some seedy lengths to fit in at school, but it still doesn\u2019t go quite to plan. With nods and references to memes and subcultures, the film is a twisted look at awkward adolescent struggles.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
